Dear Parents and Guardians, River Oaks’ students are off to a great start this year! We are proud to see their enthusiasm and positive attitudes as they begin this journey of learning and growth. Our school theme this year is “Soaring to New Heights” — inspiring every student to reach their fullest potential. The students completed beginning-of-the-year benchmark testing. These assessments give our teachers important information to tailor instruction and support each child’s unique needs as we progress through the school year.
Earlier this month, we celebrated International Literacy Day by engaging students in buddy reading activities. Students enjoyed reading with younger classmates as well as their peers. It was wonderful to see their excitement and enthusiasm as they shared stories together. The students thoroughly enjoyed this special time building reading skills and friendships.
Readers are leaders! Sixty-five students read, read and read this summer as they took part in our Summer Reading Program. These students celebrated their accomplishments with a sweet treat, received a new book of their choice, a medal and certificate to commemorate their hard work. We are so proud of them!
Thanks to all the families who came out for our Curriculum Night event. We hope you found the evening informative as you learned about the new math curriculum as well as other programs that are utilized for instruction at each grade level. Additionally, we were excited to share some activities/materials that you can use with your child at home.
Thank you for partnering with us to make 2025-2026 a successful school year. Together, we will help our students soar to new heights!
Warm regards, Mrs. Cazier |

River Oaks Cafeteria began selling Ala carte snacks during lunch service. There are a variety of snacks that will be offered daily. We have ice cream on Fridays only. All snacks meet the “Smart Snack Standard” requirement. Students are able to purchase snacks when they come through the cafeteria line for lunch. The prices vary from .75-1.25. If your student chooses to buy snacks, it is recommended that you put money on their school lunch account in advance. Students need to have cash in hand or cash in their account to purchase snacks. If you would like any restrictions placed on when or how many snacks your student may buy, please let Mrs. Herzog know via email with any concerns or questions. |

The safety of the students is our highest priority, therefore, here are some reminders:
- Please contact the front desk regarding any transportation changes.
- Teachers are not able to reply to Dojo or SeeSaw messages during the instructional day.
- All changes must be made in writing to the front desk by 12 pm. We do not accept phone calls.
- Please have your school issued car rider tag on your dashboard and keep it there until your child gets in your car.
Thank you for your support in keeping your child safe. |

Please observe the road speed limits around the school to ensure the safety of the children and nearby families.
Morning Car Rider Drop Off:
- TO PROMOTE GREATER SAFETY, Parents should remain in their cars during drop off.
- Drop off begins at 7am.
- When all traffic stops, please say quick good-byes and make sure your child has all his/her school materials. Please have your child exit the car promptly from the right side near the curb. Any slow exiting may cause a greater backup of cars.
- No drop off should occur in the front parking lot.
Afternoon Car Rider Pick Up:
- Parents must have the school issued car tag visible on the left corner of the dashboard so the "caller" may easily read it.
- If you do not have a school issued car tag, your child will NOT be called to dismiss and you will have to come into the school with proof of Identification.

Picking up your child early:
If you know you will pick your child up early, send a handwritten note in with your student stating the time the student will be picked up. When picking up your student, please go to the Main Office to sign your student out. All students MUST be signed out by a parent or guardian before leaving campus.
The latest time for dismissal from the front office is 2 pm.
Identification is required to pick up your student. Students will not be released to anyone not listed in PowerSchool as an approved pick-up unless we receive written notification from the parent/guardian. |

Consistent school attendance is critical for student achievement. If students are not present, they cannot benefit from classroom instruction. State attendance laws require student attendance for course credit and grade-level promotion. Additionally, state attendance laws require intervention when a student is deemed truant.
